We all remember a time whenwe spoke proudly about becoming the next Bill Gates, or Stephen Hawking, and it’snever wrong to dream big. As time passes by, we gradually realize that most of usare bound to stay ordinary. Yet there’s still a way of achieving excellency. Asthe saying goes, “If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.”
A perfect life doesn’t haveto be so glorious or sparkling as grand plays performed in theatres. The true valuelies in our attitude towards tiny daily issues, of which the repairman working inour community is an ideal example. Bicycle G repairing is certainly not the brightestor best G paid profession to many, but this man puts his heart and soul into itand views it as his way of serving for people in the community, which is why heearns high reputation.
As a generation about to stepinto the fiercely competitive society, we are haunted by the feeling of worry andhelplessness. “If you cannot do great things, do small thingsin a great way” is the greatest saying I’ve ever heard. I admire many people. Someof them are heroes who do great things, but some of them are ordinary people. Theydo small things which seems simple and boring.
To illustrate it, I show anexample first. My Chinese teacher, Miss Chen, is an ordinary senior high schoolteacher. She teaches everyday. However, in my eyes, she’s a great teacher. She reallyloves her students and her courses are wonderful. She will spend her spare timeto prepare agood class. She’s always willing to help students. As a result, she’sa very popular teacher in our school.
Miss Chen doesn’t do greatthings, but she tries to make her job great. When you do things wholeheartedly,you are great person. Obviously, not everyone has the chance to be a hero, but whenwe do our small things in great way, we succeed. This is an amazing quality. Sowe shouldn’t complain that we can’t do great things. Let’s do small things in agreat way to be our own hero.

A successful great man said:“a soldier who don’t want to be a general is not a good soldier”. We can find thatmost of men want to become great man, and do great things! But an army has onlyone general, most of soldiers can only be a normal soldier. So should the soldiersall go back home, just because they can’t become a general? Of course not!
Everyone has his value inhis position. An army can’t win battle if has only a general but no soldiers. Ifyou are a soldier, just do your best, stay in your position and everyone will respectyou include the general. As my father, although he’s working in the government asa normal public servant not an officer, but he did his best in work. He solved lotsof questions for his department, and served for hundreds of people a week to helpthem, he feels that he’s successful because his leader and all the people he servedsaid to him: “you are a great man”.

After carefully consideration, I have state thatthe saying is more biased. It given following reasons. Firstly, There not only greatthings but also small things in every project. Besides, the small things can dovery excellent too, if you can make your minds to do it. Further, If you can’t doas mall things well, neither great things.
From what discussed above,we conclude that question quite depends on choice. In my own eyes, no matter whatability we have, how excellent we are. Because if you want walk thousands miles,you have to do every step in you foot. only if do small things well, do great thingsin the same time.
